Echocardiography diagnostic test at True Care Cardiology

Our echocardiogram

Echocardiography is a diagnostic test that uses sound waves to create real-time images of your heart, known as an echocardiogram. This imaging technique helps your doctor assess how well your heart and its valves are functioning. It can provide valuable information about:

The size of the heart, including any changes in chamber size, dilation, or thickening
Blood clots within the heart chambers
Fluid accumulation in the sac surrounding the heart
Issues with the aorta, the main artery connected to the heart
The heart's pumping and relaxing functions
The performance of the heart valves
Pressure levels within the heart

to further investigate your heart

Echocardiograms are essential for evaluating heart muscle health, especially following a heart attack, and can also detect congenital heart defects in unborn babies.

The procedure is painless, with very few risks associated, typically only in rare cases involving specific types of echocardiograms or when contrast agents are used.

Your doctor may recommend an echocardiogram for various reasons, such as unusual findings from other tests or abnormal sounds detected during a heartbeat examination. If you experience an irregular heartbeat, chest pain, shortness of breath, or have an abnormal EKG, your doctor may order this test to further investigate your heart’s valves, chambers, and overall pumping ability.
